Editing the Music Video (Production)

                                            

Here is a brief look at all the texts/overlays I used on my music video. I took an overlay that changed the dimensions of my music video to almost look like an 80s camera, in order to build on the nostalgia of my video. I then used Picsart to custom make my own font, in either black or red, to match the colour theme of both my music video and my website.

Photoshoot (Production)

 I ran my photoshoot alongside the filming of my music video, aiming to have them both correlate to create digital convergence between my music video and website. With this, I think I was successful in replicating the same vibe that the Wallows Photoshoots had - in specifics, I replicated the guitar shot of my main band member.

Photoshoot Inspiration (Planning)

 I used inspoartion from indie band The Wallows to aim to create a casual sense to the photoshoot I did of the music video - adding to the indie-rock style I wanted to portray. In specifics, I wanted to re created the photo of the Wallows band member for my main band member and guitarist.

 Characters in my Music Video:

Name: Saviour De Marco

Character: Main Singer / Main Male Protagonist

Saviour goes to WHSB and has lots of relations to music itself - he is even a part of a band. Therefore I chose him as he can masterfully portray the indie rock persona I am trying to give off in this music video to align with the brief. He knows how to play a variety of instruments so being the main member of my pretend band The Zodiacs fits perfectly.

Name: Hannah Greenwood

Character: Main Female Protagonist

Hannah is a student at my own school, and though she does not take media herself, she has attampted to help me and other with media coursework. I chose Hannah as she has the confidence to play the character, and wouldn’t mind taking part. Though she doesn’t have lengthy acting experience, Hannah portrays the love interest of my Main Male Protagonist masterfully.

Name: Ruby McGauley

Character: Female Guitarist

Ruby attends the same school as me, and although (again) she does not take media, she has cantinously been apart of mine and other people’s coursework. I chose her to play a Female Guitarist as it relatively rare for bands to portray female drummers or musicians in the Indie Rock scene at all- so I found this as a great way to represent gender as a social group. Ruby also plays guitar herself so it was a great choice of casting for what I wanted in my music video.

Name: Dan Scogings

Character: Male Drummer

Dan attends SHSB as a student, and although he doesn't take media, he takes Music as an A Level - this gracefully helps to make my pretend band, The Zodiacs, seem almost realistic when showing in the master shots scattered across my music video - as all members can play instruments and have an interest in music.

Name: Ishan Badwaj

Character: Friend of the Main Male Protagonist

I chose Ishan to be the Friend of the main protagonist, shown in the scene where my my Main Male Protagonist stops walking to lock eyes with my Main Female Protagonist. Ishan is a pleasure to work with.

Locations (Planning)

Location 1:

Thorpe bay Greenery 

I am filming majority of the music video in this location as it has benches, which are a key symbol and object in my music video, which can clearly see the see. This builds on the mise-en-scène of this nature-filled view, with the sea in the background as the greenery is opposite the beach. Not only does this make my music video look inherently cinematic, which viewers who simply ´like to be entertained’ will enjoy, it will also allow me to link directly to my bands name, The Zodiacs, and the clear view of the sky will align with the galactic aesthetic my bands name adheres too.

Location 2:

My balcony

I am filming my master sequences of my band, The Zodiacs, playing Guitar and Drums on my balcony. This is because it has a clear view of the sky, which again at twilight/sunset time at night will give a cinematic look to my music video, and it will also relate to the again galactic aesthetic of my band. Not only this, but it will also resemble a clear area of the band, overlooking Southend.

Location 3:

My house and bedroom

I will be filming on both the doorstep of my house, and in my bedroom. The scenes outside the house will align with my bands indie rock persona, as it will be used when my main singer is alone - a commonly used trope in Rock music.  The scenes in my bedroom will add the the narrative of my music video, as it will allow for a more relatable approach to the life of my Main Singer, Savior.

Location 4:

St Augustine’s avenue

The road resembles a typical suburban area -aligning to the mise-en-scene of the setting of my music video being in an ordinary town. This road itself is very symmetrical and applies to the cinematography of my music video.
